Taicom Data System Co., Ltd., a full-fledged quality control ISDN manufacturer, successfully brought its ISDN TA product into the Japanese market in 1999, thanks to the smooth cooperation relations with its Japanese communications industry partner. Taicom announced it had signed a quite impressive order for 15,000 sets of ISDN router for the first quarter of this year. The ODM order, said Taicom, symbolizes Taiwan's ODM technology has been recognized by the international market and Taiwan can further advance itself in the worldwide ODM arena.

Taicom Chairman Tseng Huan-sheng pointed out that in the booming Internet and communications market, each large-scale communications manufacturer views it ultra mandatory as a strategy to have a niche position. After more than two years of endless efforts, Taicom finally is accepted in the Japanese market. Placing of the order by Japanese manufacturer confirms the position of Taicom in the new e-generation.

In an effort to accelerate transformation of its business whereas they can focus on manufacturing of Internet equipment, Taicom had reshuffled its management, making new alignment for top managerial executives. In the management alignment, Chairman and President Tseng Huan-sheng retains his chairman title but relinquishes his president post. Chen Chia-yuan, the executive vice president, moves up to become the new president while VP Hung Hsiao-hsing replaces Chen as executive vice president. Under the new organizational structure, the company is to focus on division of labor and, in addition, will set up an Internet business group to meet the demand of both its clients and the market.

Originally, Taicom was known primarily for its R&D in the manufacturing of modem products. During its early stage of operation, it was a long-term supplier of modem products to Chunghwa Telecom. For three years in a row, growth of Taicom has been at the high 30% level. Following the confirmed order for 15,000 sets of ISDN router in the first quarter of the year, Taicom is even confident that it could create a better performance in the new century.
